Birkenhead residents urged to join colourful fun run

The Claire House Splash Dash will be held in Birkenhead Park for the very first time this year, having previously been held in Liverpool’s Sefton Park since 2013.

For 2015, the charity has decided to double up and hold one of its events on each side of the Mersey, with the Splash Dash taking place on July 11th. It will raise money for the children’s hospice in Bebington by asking fundraisers to visit the park, where they will be hit with powdered paint in an array of colours as they run, walk or dance along a three-kilometre course.

The event will once again be sponsored by the local Liverpool ONE retail destination, which has supported the Claire House Splash Dash since its beginning.

So far, the popular event has raised £130,000 for the charity, which works hard to support seriously ill local children and the families who care for them.

Speaking to the Wirral Globe, Kirsty Simpson, who is Claire House’s events and sponsorship manager, said:

“We didn’t want Liverpool getting all the fun this year, so we decided to bring the colour and madness of the Claire House Splash Dash to Birkenhead and we can’t wait. It’s going to be double the fun, double the paint and hopefully, double the money raised…”

Local people are being urged to attend the event and help raise money for the charitable cause. The Splash Dash may also prove to be a boost to Birkenhead hotels, shops and restaurants nearby.
