Chester Rocks reveals 2013 lineup

Filed under: Chester — Posted by: Ryan on February 15, 2013

Chester’s leading summer festival is back for its third year in June, and has recently announced another exciting lineup for music fans in and around the city.

The two-day Chester Rocks festival will see boy band The Wanted take to the stage on the Saturday, while the Sunday will see the ubiquitous Jessie J top the billing. X-Factor contestants Union J and pop-rock quartet Lawson are the two other acts that have been confirmed to appear.

Taking place at Chester Racecourse, the weekend festival is still in its infancy but has previously seen such names as Taio Cruz, The Saturdays and Pixie Lott perform. The inaugural 2011 festival also saw appearances from rock and indie acts like Iggy Pop & The Stooges and Feeder, although the festival has taken a direction more towards mainstream chart music since then.

Five-piece The Wanted is one of few UK groups of their kind to have enjoyed success in America and, with the upcoming album ‘Third Strike’ due out next month, this will be an early chance to see some fresh material from the boys. Current hotshots Union J will precede them, appearing at their first summer show. Jessie J, meanwhile, will be familiar to most and will follow fast-growing Lawson on Sunday, with Scouser Andy Brown on lead vocals.

With more acts likely to be added to the bill in the future, and tickets now available, music lovers should stay tuned to the Chester Rocks website and perhaps start looking for a Chester hotel over the weekend of June 15 – 16 if they are travelling from afar.
