Nantwich prepares for annual Food and Drink event

Gourmands across Cheshire are gearing up for a weekend of fun with the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival coming to the area this weekend.

The home-spun festival brings the best samples from across the UK and further afield from Europe to satisfy the adventurous tastes of local foodies while also plumping up the local economy.

Organisers hope to attract as many as 30,000 visitors across the three-day event, which will not only celebrate regional produce, but also has events to engage locals and visitors. The organisers’ own take on the hit U.S. TV show ‘Man vs. Food’ looks set to attract plenty of attention and cookery demonstrations, grasshopper and locust tasting and preparation sessions will also be on offer for revellers.

There is something for everyone at a festival, which is known to bring in as much as £2 million for the local economy. Whilst the event is free, those attending provide a welcome boost for local businesses. Testament to this is the pledge of the organising committee that any money it raises will be immediately reinvested into the town and into next year’s festival to make it even bigger and better.

Hotels near Chester and the surrounding areas are sure to fill up fast as the historic town becomes a hive of activity with local restaurants and cafes opening their doors with special discounts to celebrate the weekend. Many will also be representing themselves with stalls at the event, which takes place across the town from Friday until Sunday.
